All 1300, 1500, 1600cc engines came stock with "forged steel" 1.1:1 ratio rocker arms. Requires springs as noted and GB 405 bolt together rocker shaft kit. GB 341 adjusting screws are highly recommended. See GB 405-SET which includes both shaft and screw kits. Warning: I do not recommend using 1.25 or any other higher ratio rocker arm with the high performance cams listed here for 1.1:1 rocker and I do not know of any performance camshaft that has ever been made for a VW air cooled engine that was for 1.25 ratio. Yes, they will run however to do so severely reduces valve train life as you will be asking the valve to accelerate open and close far beyond the capabilities of any available VW type of springs. After all, to make it a high performance camshaft required that the fastest ramp possible be built into the camshaft for the 1.1 ratio rocker. Yes, 1.25:1 will work on the factory stock camshaft as well. Note 1: Please be clear all duration numbers that we list are approximate normal hot running degrees measured at the camshaft and like all cam suppliers are advertising numbers only, not actual. Cam instructions come with actual duration numbers at a 0.050" lift measurement for dialing the cam in. Note 2: All camshafts listed below that have an "A" after the part number have extremely fast and severe ramps. These were designed for extremely fast valve action and often exceed the known spring limits. They were developed for race engines that were restricted to stock factory ratio rocker arms and will cause premature valve train wear or failure and are not recommended for daily driven applications. Warning: All high performance cams require more carburetion than the stock single 1-barrel. If you intend to use your stock single carburetor for daily driving, use one of the stock VW cams listed in the VWA section of this catalog. |
